One of the most colorful Turkish writers of the near past was commemorated in London by a program created and performed by Nükhet Eren Creative Writing Atelier from Koşuyolu, İstanbul.
The program was held in Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre, on 7th June, 2013.
The program started with a 30 min. documentary “Journey to Mahmut Yesari”, about the life and works of Mahmut Yesari.
Script writing, shooting, assembly and editing of this documentary about the Turkish writer Mahmut Yesari (1905-1945), is done by the participants of İstanbul Nükhet Eren Creative Writing Atelier, with the help of friends who are professionals and who volunteered to support the documentary with music, animation and sound recording.
The second part of the program was a discussion about the life and works of Mahmut Yesari and an association was analyzed between Mahmut Yesari and Charles Dickens (1812-1870), world-famous English writer, both of whom have reflected in depth the society they lived in. Both Yesari and Dickens, are memorable writers, unique with their valuable language and style.
The second part of the program lasted approximately 1 hr. The discussion “Two Mirrors of Life: Mahmut Yesari and Charles Dickens” was lead by Ms. Nükhet Eren and the participants were, Ms. Ayşegül Ayman, Ms. Esen Balkan Soner, and Ms. Işık Demirtaş
The third part was reserved for the questions and comments of the audience.
With the active participation of the audience and the hospitality of Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre, the program turned out to be a very pleasant evening for everyone.
